4 Ways that Exercise Will Improve Your Sex Life

January 26, 2020

Summer is just across the street and naturally, our first reaction to the warmer temperatures is to get in the gym and record ourselves to let social media know that we’re “gettin’ it in”, because, #SummerBody.  However, after we’ve added the perfect filter, perfected our caption, and hit the send button; the real work begins. Halfway through our workout, we’re either comparing ourselves to the other gym-goers or we grow tired and remember how much we loathe cardio.

As the soreness kicks in, our fitness aspirations dissolve into our ranch dressing that we dip our wings in and we throw in the towel by posting the shameful “The beach gonna get whatever body I give it” meme.

Lack of fitness ambition is the number one reason why most people stray away from exercising. In order to be consistent and persistent at achieving results, one must be relentlessly motivated. There are endless benefits of exercising your body, but one that sticks out the most is amazing sex. Yes, that’s correct. The best part is that you don’t have to be #BodyGoals to reap the benefits. It only takes a standard 30-minute workout with various exercises to have the absolute best sex of your life for both, Men and Women.

If you still aren’t sold, here are 4 ways that exercise will improve your sex life.

1. Major Self-Esteem Boost

One of my favorite post-gym activities is strutting around in front of the mirror naked after killing my workout. Seeing the results of my workouts always make me feel like an Instagram baddie, no matter where I’m at in my fitness journey. Seeing the results not only motivates me to continue working out, but it also makes me want to show them off to my partner in the sheets and exercise him.

Feeling positively sexy is vital in enhancing your sex life as you’ll be exchanging energies (and bodily fluids) with another person. Your partner will be receiving your energy and giving it back to you so exuding confidence in the bedroom is needed in order to have the perfect balance of passion and kink that you desire, and it starts in the gym.

The boost in your self-esteem after working out is also scientific. According to WebMD, “When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine”.

Set the tone of the sex session with a dose of high self-esteem and enjoy the high.

2. Flexibility & Stability

Have you ever read the Kamasutra and laughed at how impossible the sex positions seemed? Did you know that a lot of these positions are possible with consistent stretching and exercise?

Workout routines like yoga and strength training aid in flexibility and maintaining sex in challenging fun positions. Carrying your partner to the bedroom, touching the floor behind your head with your toes, or the plough position (see Kamasutra) are all incredible benefits of adding yoga and resistance to your workouts.

3. Increase in Stamina

Nothing is more disappointing than (unintended) quick sex. One of the most common sex issues is stamina, especially when it comes to men. Exercises like the pelvic thrust and kegel aren’t just for women to tighten their glutes and vagina. Men can also benefit from these workouts as it allows them to gain more control over their erection and even extend it.

Fellas, doing at least 30 reps of these exercises will increase your stamina and control over your penis. Your partner will thank you over and over for it.

4. Reduce stress

In 2019, anyone with a google search engine knows that stress is the leading cause of headaches, high blood pressure, and even heart attaches; but did you know that it is also the cause of bad sex?

Not only does stress kill your mood, but it can also wreak havoc on your libido and reproductive system. According to Psychology Today, “Chronic stress affects the concentration of all sex hormones because the body produces stress hormones such as cortisol at the expense of sex hormones like testosterone. The shift in hormones not only lowers sex drive but it can interfere with ovulation, sperm count, and fertility”.

Exercise is known to reduce stress, lessen depression, and in turn, help maintain a healthy sex drive.

The beginning of a workout journey can seem intimidating, but the pros far outweigh the cons. If nothing else, let incredible and lasting sex be your motivation to living a healthier and active lifestyle.
